God speaking through you..
After a frustrating experience with an email that wouldn’t send, Steve Garnaas-Homes wrote this:
I wonder if God ever feels like I did this last week:
that God wants to express love but we’re not transmitting it?
What if God is still doing Pentecost?
What if God wants to say something through you?
Is it getting spoken? Is it getting sent?
What if you are the Word God is trying to get out?
What if you are the language in which God expresses love?
What if there are ways, even beyond your own knowing,
that others hear God’s good news through your life?
On Sunday in worship, we experienced the joy of witnessing four young people officially become part of the church through confirmation. Each of them stood up in front of the congregation and shared a scripture verse they had chosen and why this verse was especially meaningful for them. I was struck by their courage and vulnerability as they allowed God to speak through them to all of us, reminding us of moments in our lives when scripture has touched us when we have made decisions to step forward in faith when we have willingly taken part in the life of a community.
Today, how might God speak through you? Are you open to hearing God speak to you through others?
You are a letter of Christ written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. ~2 Corinthians 3.3
