The Reverend Amy Starr Redwine

PASTOR AND HEAD OF STAFF

EXT. 230 – ASRedwine@CovenantWeb.org

Amy Starr Redwine joined the staff of the church in July 2014 and is thrilled to be a part of a community discerning how to follow Jesus in the 21st-century while surrounded by world-class educational, medical, and cultural institutions in University Circle. Amy’s goal as a pastor is “to continually ask what we as a church have to offer the neighborhood and the world around us that none of those institutions can offer. I believe the answer to the question is God’s love. But how we manifest that love as a community changes day to day — as it should, since we follow God who is constantly doing a new thing in the world and in each of our lives.”

Prior to coming to Covenant at the Pastor and Head of Staff, Amy served two churches in Akron, Ohio, one as solo pastor and one as associate pastor of discipleship. She grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, and received her B.A. from Middlebury College and her M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. While at Princeton, Amy met and married her classmate Derek Redwine, who is currently the Pastor and Head of Staff at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights. Derek’s first call was in Denver, and while there Amy pursued her love of literature by working as a freelance writer, writing two (unpublished) novels, and serving as a cashier at the Tattered Cover, Denver’s beloved independent bookstore. For nearly ten years, she has written a bi-monthly column for Horizons magazine (the magazine of Presbyterian Women) called “Faithful Parenting.”

When she’s not working Amy loves to spend time with her family, cook, and read. She runs a few days a week while listening to podcasts (Presidential, Serial, Invisibilia, and Radiolab are a few favorites). Since 2013, she has served on the board of Urban Oak School in Cleveland Heights, a school that teaches according to the Waldorf philosophy. Derek and Amy have three children and as a family enjoy music, games, good food, and spending time together outside.
