Lyn Cooper Tomaszewski

Lyn Cooper Tomaszewski, who joined Covenant’s staff as Communications Manager in June, 2010, retired from this position in December, 2017. In March, 2019, she returned to this position on a part-time interim basis to provide communication support during a search for a new Communications Manager.


Lyn has studied, lived, worked, and worshiped in University Circle. In 1975, when she came to CWRU, she found Covenant, a short walk from her Cornell Road apartment. She has worked in nonprofit planning and management, communications, teaching, and fund development, with a focus on start-up, new program development, and agencies in transition in the areas of interreligious relations, family planning, hospice care, pediatrics, and homelessness. She holds a BA in psychology from Ohio Northern University, an MA in sociology/demography from Bowling Green State University, and a BSN from CWRU’s Bolton School of Nursing. She is a licensed registered nurse and social worker.


Lyn joined Covenant in 1976, is an elder, Education for Ministry (EfM) graduate, and Stephen Minister. She has served as a trustee and secretary to the Society, and has had the opportunity to participate in a number of committees over the years, including two self-studies. She is currently a member of the Interim Pastor Search Committee and was just elected to the Diaconate.


Lyn is married to fellow Covenant member and baseball fan Jim Tomaszewski, and has two stepchildren, Trina and Jonathan, and two very fun grandchildren, Alex and Ethan. Lyn and Jim enjoy their North Collinwood Cleveland neighborhood which they share with a number of Covenant members.
