EXT. 224 – MBaum@CovenantWeb.org
Melanie Marsh Baum is an Ordained Minister in the Presbyterian Church, USA. She has served as Associate Pastor at Church of the Covenant since 2015.
Melanie holds a BFA in Theatre and Dance from Florida State University, and an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary. Before going into Ministry, Melanie worked in the Performing Arts, Arts Education, and community activism in Florida and California, working most closely with children, youth and young adults who were at risk for, or survivors of trauma and violence. Her work serving these populations over a period of 10 years led her to discern a call to serve similar populations through the work of the church, and eventually to a call as a full-time Pastor.
As Associate Pastor of Church of the Covenant, Melanie provides Pastoral support for the church’s Ministry of Service. This group is responsible for Mission, Outreach, Congregational Care, and Social Justice Initiatives. She also serves on the Ministry of Faith Formation, and leads the Multicultural Worship and Education Team for that Ministry. In addition, Melanie provides Pastoral support to the Board of Deacons, and the Church Session, and works with our Neighborhood Mission Partner, Cleveland School of the Arts, serving as a Community Chaplain.
Melanie’s community work includes serving on the Self Development of People committee for the Presbytery of the Western Reserve, serving on the Board of Cleveland Christian Home for Children, working as a partner and member of Neighborhood Connections, and participating in PRSIM, a racial equity learning lab sponsored by Neighborhood Connections.
